DIY Beauty Recipe: Oats and Honey Exfoliating Facial Treatment

DIY Beauty Recipe: Oats and Honey Exfoliating Facial Treatment

Exfoliating to remove dead skin cells and build-up is essential for Glowing skin.

Ground oatmeal works well for gentle exfoliation and contains oat beta glucan that forms a film on skin that retains moisture. Oat beta glucan and honey have anti-inflammatory properties to soothe angry skin. Honey is anti-bacterial to aide in acne recovery.

This is a simple recipe with big results!

YOU WILL NEED:

  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 cup full strength Herbal Infusion made with Chamomile or Calendula (or any other of your skin soothing favorites). To make the infusion: steep 1 tablespoon dried chamomile or a chamomile tea bag or 1 tablespoon calendula in 1/4 cup warm water until the water cools. Drain and reserve water, dispose of botanicals.

DIRECTIONS:

Prepare the herbal infusion and set aside.

Grind the Rolled Oats into a coarse (but not fine) flour. In a small bowl, combine the honey and ground rolled oats. Pour the 1/4 cup herbal infusion over the oat mixture, stir to combine well and allow to rest for 5 minutes.

HOW TO USE:

Rinse face with warm water. Using fingertips, gently massage a small amount of the mixture all over your face in small circular motions. Be careful not to overstimulate your skin by scrubbing too long. Remove with a warm washcloth. Discard leftovers. Use weekly.
